How to report AI visibility to clients (a simple monthly template)
A one-page monthly report that shows AEO progress in plain terms: readiness score, issues closed, an AI visibility check, what you did, and next month.

A client pays for AEO and, a month in, asks the fair question: what did I get? If your answer is a shrug and some jargon, the retainer is at risk. This is a simple monthly report you can hand a client that shows progress in plain terms, per store.
What a client actually wants to see
Not schema. They want three things: is my situation better than last month, where do I now show up, and what did you do. Build the report around those.
A one-page monthly template
Keep it to a single page per store. Five sections:
- AI-readiness score, this month vs last. One number, trending up. It is the headline: the store went from, say, 48 to 71. If you use an audit that returns a 0 to 100 score, this section writes itself.
- Issues closed. A short count and list: duplicate schema removed on 120 products, GTIN added on 85, availability corrected on 40. Concrete, countable work.
- AI visibility check. Take five to ten buyer questions in the client's category, ask them across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, and record whether the client's products were absent, mentioned or recommended. Show the change from last month. Be honest that this is a reading over time, not a guarantee. (How to measure it properly.)
- What we did. Two or three plain sentences. No jargon. "We fixed the product data ChatGPT reads and kept your feed current."
- Next month. One or two priorities, so the retainer has a forward story.
Make it repeatable, not heroic
The report only works if you can produce it every month without it eating a day. That means the underlying numbers should come from a tool, not a manual audit each time:
- The score and issue counts come from re-running the audit.
- The visibility check comes from a saved set of prompts run across assistants.
If you are doing this by hand for one store it is fine. Across ten client stores it is not, which is where automation earns its place.
Where this connects
shoptoai gives you the score, the per-product issue list and monitoring across assistants in one dashboard, so the monthly report is mostly assembling numbers you already have. See how agencies sell AEO for the service around it and pricing for the Agency plan. Try it on one store first: free audit.
Common questions
How often should I send the report?
Monthly fits AEO well. AI answers and sources shift week to week, so a monthly cadence smooths the noise and still shows a clear trend without over-promising on a single check.
What if visibility didn't improve this month?
Say so, and show the readiness score and issues closed as the leading indicators. Visibility follows clean data with a lag, so the score climbing is the honest promise that the outcome is coming.
